Seeking to move forward with vaccination in the United States, President Joe Biden announced this week a series of measures that affect about 80 million Americans. In a conference for the local press, the president said that this is a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”.

Therefore, in order to interrupt the spread of the Delta variant in the country, the US government should require that all federal public employees are vaccinated. The deadline is 75 days, with no regular testing option for those who refuse to vaccinate.

The government should establish penalties for those who are civil servants and do not complete the immunization cycle.

Private initiative workers also entered the executive order, since companies with more than 100 employees must require vaccination of its entire workforce.

With the measure, Biden expects about 100 million Americans get immunized, since 17 million health workers should also receive incentives to be vaccinated with both doses.

The president explained that his plan focuses on six pillars:

Vaccinate the unvaccinated, expand protection to those who have already been vaccinated, keep schools open, intensify testing and the requirement for masks, maintain economic recovery, increase patient care.

Biden also ruled out vaccination being part of the civil liberties debate:

You unvaccinated crowd our hospitals, are saturating emergency rooms and intensive care units and leaving no room for someone with a heart attack, pancreatitis or cancer. It's not about freedom or personal choice. It's about protecting ourselves and those around us, the people we work with, the people we care about, the people we love.

On the other hand, the vaccination situation in Brazil is advanced, since the country already exceeded the mark of 200 million doses applied.
