Update (05/28/2021) by LL

The last update received by Galaxy A80 has arrived in the middle of april and brought no less than Android 11 under the One UI 3.1 interface. Now, while some models like the Galaxy S21 and Z Flip 5G already receive June patches, Samsung is finally making the May security package available for the A-line smartphone with rotating camera.

The update brings the version firmware A805FXXU6DUE2 and features vulnerability fixes from both Google and Samsung regarding privacy and security. The full changelog has not yet been released, but it is expected that the update will bring improvements to the Quick Share feature, as was the case with the update to Galaxy A72.

So far, the new update for the Galaxy A80 has only been noticed in Spain, but as always the distribution should reach other regions soon.

Update (04/12/2021) by LL

Samsung's Galaxy A line is finally receiving, little by little, the long-awaited update to Android 11 with One UI 3.1 interface in Brazilian territory🇧🇷 This time, the Galaxy A80, one of the most interesting intermediaries of the South Korean brand, was chosen to obtain the novelty. The novelty had already been noticed in Europe in mid-March.

Galaxy A80 users in Brazil have already identified the software update under the number A805FXXU5DUC7 bringing improvements to the home screen and quick panel, in addition to performance and battery consumption optimizations.

Original text (03/22/2021)

Announced in June 2019 and released in Brazil just a month later, the intermediary Galaxy A80 with its curious system of rotating cameras, at the end of March, it begins to receive the long-awaited Android 11 update, with the new One UI 3.1 interface released by Samsung.

The release has started for some models in Europe, so it is expected that, little by little, the novelty will become more and more available around the world. New software version has code number A805FXXU5DUC7 and is also released with the latest security update, the March patch.

The Galaxy A80 was the first Samsung smartphone to feature a retractable camera system and the first in the world to combine the pop-up concept with the rotating format, allowing the rear cameras to be used as front cameras as well.

Without a successor in 2021, a new generation of the model is expected to be presented this year being called the Galaxy A82, but there are no great indications if Samsung plans to keep the screen uninterrupted and adopt a retractable or rotating system for the cameras. Patents have already described a sliding system to reveal the cameras and a more powerful speaker, but we don't know if, in fact, Samsung plans to use it.
