diablo 2 is certainly a RPG marked in history from the video industrygames. Released in June 2000, the title is still remembered today as one of the great names of its genre, even being the inspiration for several releases that have emerged after all these years.

In this scenario, where the title has an enormous reputation, we have gained the resurrection of the classic. Diablo 2: Resurrected is the remastering that hits the market to update the success, making it even more attractive and bringing it up to the standards of today.

We were invited to participate in the closed beta, which took place last weekend, and we had the opportunity to check out the newest version of Diablo 2 up close. I played years later and I was won over by all the quality of the content. Anxious and excited, I opened Diablo 2: Resurrected for the first time with the hope that fun found was the same as before… in a few minutes, I came to believe that this time the journey would be even more striking.

The same essence, an updated Diablo

Diablo 2: Resurrected already shows what came right at the beginning, in the prologue, when we see tyrael finding Marius, in a cutscene that clearly shows the evolution of computer graphics during these 21 years.

The cutscene is extremely faithful to what we already know, and that's exactly how it impresses, by showing already known content with a completely new look. The fact is that Resurrected already gives the message right away, exciting the fan even more, giving a glimpse of how much the journey could have been improved – visually speaking -.

The initial cutscene already shows the great evolution.

After the game actually starts, it is also possible to quickly notice that the title itself follows what was demonstrated in the initial cutscene. This is the good old Diablo 2, but with a look that is true to the present day. It is not hidden from the public that Resurrected tries to keep the essence and elements of the classic, after all, this statement was made by the developers themselves, which makes the result delivered to the players exactly what was promised.

It is possible to check the title with the original graphics, which helps highlight the visual evolution that we had in this release. It's interesting to make the comparison, since our memories can sometimes deceive us, making us not really aware of how different the title is.

classic gameplay

It is very likely that players used to more current RPGs feel weird when venturing through Diablo 2. Movement, HUD characteristics, combat and the absence of some actions can be a problem, precisely because Diablo presents elements that are no longer those more common in the industry.

Diablo 2 can be considered, and most likely will be, difficult by those who will now have their first contact with the franchise. Furthermore, even players familiar with diablo 3, will be able to feel the difficulties caused by the differences between the titles, if they have never checked out the classic.

The gameplay is recognized by veterans.

Diablo 2 is "slower", less agile and perhaps even more tiring and cruel than current titles that could be used in a comparison. But believe me when I say that every word I used must be interpreted in the best possible way.. As in the classic, precisely because it is the same, Resurrected deserves the insistence for those who might not feel familiar at first. Once you overcome the barriers seemingly imposed by the gameplay, a whole world of fun and quality content is exposed. You'll notice that each element of Diablo 2 fits “into the whole” of its gameplay, making the title deliver a challenging, rewarding and very satisfying journey.

For longtime players, Resurrected delivers exactly what everyone knows, being the opportunity to embark on this wonderful journey again, now with enchanting visuals.

A great RPG

Diablo 2 is indeed a great RPG. And like any good title of the genre, you'll obviously have to pay attention to different details and elements that will make a total difference in your journey. Sometimes you'll have to prepare yourself to explore new areas, so it's always good to have those old potions of manna and hp in inventory!

Furthermore, assemble the build of your character is extremely important, as well as choosing which items to use. Resurrected also keeps here everything we already know from the original release, with this still being one of the game's strengths. It's interesting to master your character and know exactly how to use it, distributing the points and making other decisions to adapt it to your own style.

group adventure

Although the solo quest in Diablo 2 is extremely satisfying, it is also possible to take advantage of the title in coop with your friends. You will be allowed to check the game in up to 8 players, thus making the adventure more interesting for those who want company when facing the most varied creatures.

Playing in a group is interesting.

Playing alongside other players, the difficulty adapts to the group, with the monsters proving to be stronger. In this way, the adventure remains interesting and challenging.

The return of the classic

After the closed beta, I have to say that I am extremely excited for the release of the title. Diablo 2 returned to prove, once again, that it has a lot of quality, now with the journey offered being even more attractive.

Scheduled for launch September 2021, Diablo 2: Resurrected is certainly one of the highlights of this year's end.
