One more application has just joined the great family of “billionaire” downloads. It was the turn of Google Sheets to reach the record of 1 billion downloads a few months after its brother Google Docs. Both now participate in an exclusive Play Store club, which also includes apps such as Spotify, Microsoft Word, Google Photos, twitter and Netflix – but still far from 5 billion from WhatsApp.

The delay can be justified because, in fact, in its mobile version, despite working as a good free alternative to Microsoft Excel, its features are more limited than in the web version, becoming less practical and used on smartphones, especially for larger and complex documents.

O dark mode added in 2020 to the family of applications was a good addition to Sheets, increasing its usability on cell phones. It is worth noting that these downloads, in a way, represented a beautiful effort, considering that the app does not normally come pre-installed on Android devices.

And you, are you within this mass of 1 billion users? What other apps would you like to see reach this milestone?
