Samsung Galaxy Unpacked live weblog - all the Galaxy S22 news as it happens
[ad_1]
If all goes as we hope in Samsung Galaxy Unpacked today, we'll see three new phones and three new pills from Samsung. Although given the large number of leaks around the Galaxy S22 smartphone and Galaxy Tab S8 pills, you could be forgiven if you feel like you've already seen these devices.
Samsung is hosting another Uncompressed Galaxy Event this morning, starting at 10am ET/7am PT. And like all Samsung product events over the past year and a half, this one is a digital event.
You don't have to wait until Samsung execs hit the stage to be sure the Galaxy S22 will be a big topic of discussion. Samsung always introduces a new lineup of flagship phones this time of year, and the number of S22 rumors circulating suggests that a new phone is on the way. Samsung has confirmed this, promising a device more like the Galaxy Notice in an announcement teasing today's Unpacked event.
But Unpacked won't just be about phones. New pills could also be in the mix, given the amount of Galaxy Tab S8 rumors floating around.
Our Galaxy Unpacked 2022 hub rounds up everything we're hoping to hear today, but here's a quick recap of the products likely to appear during Samsung's event.
What to expect in Samsung Unpacked
Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus: Samsung plans to release three new phones that are expected to bear a resemblance to the Galaxy S21 models they are replacing. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are expected to see camera improvements and a new 4nm processor, although the screen and battery sizes may be smaller than what the S21 offered.
Galaxy S22 Extremely: The highlight of the program should be the Galaxy S22 Extremely, which is the phone we expect to adopt many of the Galaxy Notice's features - including a built-in S Pen. We also expect a very bright display, a new Tremendous Transparent camera lens, and 45W faster charging.
Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S8 Plus: O Galaxy Tab S8 and the Tab S8 Plus are both with an S Pen, but the Tab S8 offers an 11-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Tab S8 Plus would bump that up to a 12.4-inch OLED. Both would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
Galaxy Tab S8 Extremely: O Galaxy Tab S8 Extremely set to be the most interesting device of the bunch. It's expected to be a 14.6-inch OLED display and should give Samsung a formidable competitor to Apple's iPad Professional. There's a notch on the front that will supposedly house dual front cameras. And there are rumors of an optional keyboard that could make this a viable PC replacement.
