NEW DELHI: Whatsapp recently introduced six new features to its voice message functionality. It looks like the well-liked messaging app has started testing a new feature for Home windows users. WhatsApp, owned by Fb, has started testing a new 'View Once' feature on Home windows. The feature will allow users to access photos and videos only once. Along with this, the app has also started testing a new pop-up menu for phone numbers that send you a message and choose between dialing them or adding to contacts.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Twitter account that tracks WhatsApp build changes, whatsapp for home windows beta 2.2212.2.0 has been released for early testers. The beta update suggests that WhatsApp users on Home windows will have the ability to preview shared photos and videos using the 'View Once' feature. However, the update does not include the option to upload media content that can be viewed once.
WhatsApp introduced the 'View Once' feature on Android and iOS last year. With the 'view once' feature, photos and videos uploaded in this mode can only be viewed once. The sent media will disappear from the chat once the user opens the photo or video.
Although this feature may seem interesting, keep in mind that the person you are sending the photos or videos to can always save them by taking a screenshot. WhatsApp does not hinder users from taking screenshots nor does it notify users when the message recipient has taken a screenshot.
Along with this, WABetaInfo also revealed that WhatsApp is also working on introducing a pop menu for phone numbers for Home windows users. Gives ability to dial number directly using default app or add it to contact list. Also, if the number is already active on WhatsApp, the application allows you to communicate directly with the user.
