the cell phones Xiaomi will no longer load "Mi" brand in the name. The Chinese manufacturer will stop using the nomenclature that has been intended for ten years for the Mi 11, Mi 10T and Mi 9, among other smartphones and products in the line. The change was confirmed by the company when XDA-Developers this Tuesday (24) and has already started to be applied.

The measure changes the way the company's products are known. A spokesperson told the site that the “Mi” product line will be renamed to “Xiaomi”. The change began in the third quarter of 2021 with the Mix 4 release in August, and it may take time to affect all regions where the company operates.

This means that new category products will no longer be recognized by the iconic “Mi”. Let's use Mi 11 as an example: if the phone were announced under the new rule, the product would only be known as Xiaomi 11, not Mi 11. Furthermore, the nomenclature will also be applied to “IoT ecosystem and products” soon .

“Mi” brand will no longer be used; understand the case

The new rule puts an end to a brand that appears on the company's cell phones for ten years. O XDA-Developers recalls that the first smartphone to carry the name, the Mi 1, went public in 2011. It had only 1 GB of RAM, a 4-inch screen, Snapdragon S3 and Android 2.3. Specifications that, for the time, were remarkable.

Since then, everything has evolved. The Mi 11 is sold in Brazil with 8 GB of RAM and Android 11🇧🇷 Already the screen rose from 4 inches to 6.81 inches. Other improvements are due to the presence of three cameras instead of one, the main one being 108 megapixels. In 2011, cameras barely exceeded 8 MP, as was the case with the Samsung Galaxy S2.

But why this change now, ten years later? On the website, the company explains that the initiative will “unify the presence of its global brand and close the perception gap between the brand and its products”. In addition, there will be a more notable separation between Xiaomi and Redmi products, which seek to serve different audiences and purposes.

“With the introduction of the new brand identity, two distinct series of products will come under the parent brand,” they stated. “Xiaomi products represent the pinnacle of technology and offer a premium experience. Redmi products bring great innovation at a more affordable price and are aimed at a younger audience.”

But there are still no images of the smartphones in question.

The listing gives some clues about the cell phones. Starting with the 8 GB RAM memory. The storage can be 128 GB or 256 GB. The phones also came in blue, white and gray. The prices indicated by the retailer, which may be different from the values suggested by the manufacturer, vary according to the models:
